Children’s brains

I like how it acknowledges that many behaviours from children are a result of emotional responses from the limbic (emotional) part of the brain or the brain stem (fear) part of the brain. Punishing children while they are in this state hinders connections from these lower parts of the brain to the higher more rational parts of the brain. Essentially, punishing a child at this point gets in the way of them being able to learn anything about their behaviour or what to do differently next time.
