Validating Feelings

It can make a real difference when the child hears you clearly acknowledge what it is they feel. “You’re angry at me because I won’t let you have chocolate right now. I sometimes feel angry too when I can’t have what I want”. Acknowledging feelings like this can help create calm in challenging moments.
